Creative Customers: Gretchen's Door Hangers

We love it when folks get creative with the treasures from our scrap bins! Creative customer Gretchen made a series of fun, funky, and festive door hangers:

Check out some of the awesome details, including buttons (from our button bin), sequins, decorative trims, and more! The one in the middle -- with the green and bright yellow pieces -- looks like a sky full of fireworks. We think this is a fantastic way to use up little leftover snips and bits from other projects. Great work, Gretchen!

Good morning, WoolFans!

We're running a little late this morning, and don't we feel SHEEPish!

Unfortunately, there were no scraps on the Pendleton truck this week.

Pendleton Tapestries in the Wild

Cat Care Bed & Breakfast -- a cats-only boarding facility in Lake Oswego -- displays a Pendleton tapestry in the waiting area.



The Flying Gallop by Paul Allen Bennett hangs in the waiting area -- a perfect choice for a cat-centric business. To the right is the "Jungle Room" where the feline guests get to stretch their legs and soak up some extra sunshine!

Pendleton tapestries are a lovely addition to a home or office space! Visit our Tapestry Gallery at the Woolen Mill Store to see more masterpieces transformed into woven works of art.

Creative Customers: Nancy's Rimrock Jacket

Nancy came to the Woolen Mill Store all the way from Montana to show off her gorgeous coat! Okay, not JUST to show off her coat, she has family in the Portland area. But we're so glad she came by wearing her awesome Rimrock jacket!

Nancy started with our Awesome Jacket pattern and made some modifications -- the roll collar is cut on the bias, the jacket is fully lined, and the front overlaps to accommodate buttons.

The Awesome Jacket is our best-selling pattern -- for good reason. It's easy enough for beginning sewers and there are so many ways to personalize it! If you'd like to try out the Awesome Jacket, all our sewing and craft patterns are on sale this month.

Truck Report 2/18/2011

Ahh, weekend. Time to relax and get crafty!

The Pendleton truck drove down the chimney and left a bunch of boxes under the craftmas tree for all the good little lambs. Here's what we found when we opened up the boxes: 300 pounds of blanket header, 300 pounds of fuzzy selvage, and 400 pounds of wooly worms! It's always nice to get a little bit of everything.

And we must have been extra-good this week, because we got some fun scarves, too! Believe it or not, these are mill by-products, too -- when Pendleton weaves fringed throws, we get matching scarves.

Truck Report 2/11/2011

Good morning, crafty friends! The Pendleton truck showed up right on schedule on Thursday afternoon and brought us all sorts of fun scraps: around 250 pounds of fuzzy selvage and around 250 pounds of wooly worms!

We still have a bit of blanket header left over from last week's delivery, and some fun larger remnants on our discount tables -- sized for pillows, purses, and other quick and easy projects.

We've also got two great classes this weekend if you want to make something for your sweetie for Valentine's Day: Pendleton Jacquard Apron (just like the staff wears!) on Saturday and Carol's Zoo Animals on Sunday. Creative Customers: Heidi's Wedding Cape

We got a lovely email recently from Heidi:

I was married on October 10th, 2010. In place of a veil, I wore a cloak made by my mother Shawn Gundlach and aunt Terri Sible. It was made from 8 yards of Tartan Red Plush wool from your store and lined with silver dupioni silk. I felt like a princess in a fairy tale. Thank you for your wonderful wool! It helped make my magical day even better!

Good morning WoolFans! We've all survived another work week and the countdown to the weekend has begun. What are you planning?

We're planning to be crafty! The truck showed up Thursday afternoon and brought us a little bit of everything... including the long-awaited blanket header!

On the Road Again...

We just can't wait to take the Woolen Mill Store on the road again!

We're just one month away from the 27th Annual Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA... and we are SO EXCITED! This is the largest event for sewing enthusiasts in the United States with more than four hundred vendors, over a hundred classes daily, style shows, and more.

The Woolen Mill Store is offering a Three Needle Seminar: Felting for Young Crafters. This two and a half hour class will teach both wet felting and needle felting techniques for ages ten and up. (More details and registration at the link!)
